Hello fellow artists and art lovers,
Spring has sprung and art is in the air! Come by and see my art at the Universal City Library on Pat Booker Rd. I have 10 original pieces up in their cozy reading room. Have a cup of coffee surrounded by art.
Another cozy place is the Emily Morgan Hotel Library. Lots of ambience in that place. I have 3 pieces on exhibit, Texas Hill Country - Fredericksburg, Tx., Frio River at Concan, and Two Garden Tots. All are original works of art painted from my personal experience.
I have recently placed some unframed reproductions at the River Art Gallery in La Villita in downtown San Antonio. If you haven't visited, I invite you to experience it. Great place to find local art, all within a 100 mile radius of San Antonio.
In February, I was at the Alamodome for the San Antonio Home and Garden Show. What a wonderful show! Met a lot of great people and did a couple of demos.

Fall Art Events and Pastel Art Classes
Even though it doesn't FEEL like fall, you can feel the chill of the air conditioner as you enjoy my Fall Art Exhibits.
You are cordially invited to visit the Candlelight Coffee House and Wine Bar at 3011 N. St. Mary's St. What a great place to unwind! The cozy atmosphere invites you to relax and enjoy the art. I have 21 pieces on exhibit, all are for sale at very reasonable prices. Among them is Canyon Twilight Blue, a painting of the Grand Canyon at twilight (it really does turn a misty blue). This painting was juried into the Arts for the Parks National Competition and toured to different galleries across the nation. Also, you will see Dance of the Cactus Flowers which placed 2nd in Show at the Texas Pastel Society's National Juried Show in 2012. As your eyes travel from flower to flower, it reminded me of a dance, hence the name. Exhibit will be up September and October. Open daily except Mondays.
Also......
Three of my paintings will be on exhibit at the Tobin at Oakwell Library, 4134 Harry Wurzbach along with other Texas Pastel Society member's art. Exhibit will be up Sept. 7 - Oct. 12th. Open daily.
Mark your calendars for the Home and Garden Show at the Alamodome! What a show! I will be in booths 177-179 along with other artists. Pastel painting demonstrations daily. October 4-6. Go to www.showtechnology.com for a $1 off coupon.
Or do you want to build on your pastel painting skills? Then join me Tuesday mornings 10-12noon at the Hobby Lobby, Bandera @ Huebner for art class. I'm in my 11th year of teaching at Hobby Lobby. You will learn composition, values, color harmony, techniques, how to frame, much more plus enjoy the company of fellow artists. Class is $50 for 4 weeks.(one class per week). If you miss a class, you may make it up within 2 months. Beginners to Advanced. For a list of my Awards and Honors , click on Lopez Art Venture Gallery under My Blog List.
Hope to see you at one of my events or at art class!

My Art at the Bijou and Upcoming Exhibits
Hi to all!
Yes, four of my paintings are up at the Bijou Theatre, Wonderland of the Americas Mall at the corner of Loop 410 and Fredericksburg Rd. They will be on display through April 29th. The painting titled "Magnolia" has sold and will be replaced with another painting. This painting is one of my left-handed paintings. There are two others that were painted with the left hand. Let's see if you can figure out which ones.
"Dance of the Cactus Flowers" received 2nd in Show at the 2012 Texas Pastel Society National Juried Show. I called it "Dance..." because as I looked at it my eyes were jumping from one flower to the next and it reminded me of a dance.
"Steer Among Us" came about after a visit to the Texas Folklife Festival. A cowboy was riding this steer through the crowd! A surprise to some, ho-hum to others.
"Country Glory" is a wonderful scene just outside Helotes, Texas on the road to Medina. I was going out to do some plein air painting at a friend's ranch in Medina and the trees had this glorious red-orange color. If you're from that area you'll know what I mean.
Another event I will be a part of is at the San Antonio Garden Center on April 13-14. Some of my art will be up and I will be doing a pastel demo on both days. The center is located at the corner of Funston and N.New Braunfels. Stroll through the garden show and watch me paint!
If you want to purchase one of my paintings, I can now take credit cards! Just email me and we can even do it over the phone.
